Jennifer Tilly was conceived in Los Angeles on 16 September 1958 under very poor conditions. Her mother worked as a teacher and failed actor, and her father sold automobiles. Jennifer, the second of four kids in her family often accompanied her mother to her theater performances and was very impressed with her. Jennifer's parents split after she turned five. Jennifer lived the majority of her youth within British Columbia when her mother relocated there with her four children. Jennifer was not able to get an excellent education, despite being a gifted child. Her school was often the subject of a bullying incident as a result of her experiences in Canadian schools. When she was in high school, her love for theater started to diminish. In an effort to counter her loss of interest, her mother encouraged her participate as an extra in a variety of productions. She encouraged her kids to pursue a passion for the arts. She immediately took the initiative.
